Ingredients:
Ingredient | Description |
Aqua (H©üO’s Fancy Name) | We wanted something that went on cool like a moisturiser, and wasn't oily. For this a formula needs water mixed with natural oils that soak in and moisturise the skin. |
Zinc Oxide (For Sun Protection) | Sits on the surface of the skin and reflects and scatters UV A and UV B radiation like a mirror. It rubs in clear as the Zinc contains holes that make it see through. |
Coco Caprylate (Coconut-Based Conditioner) | A light coconut based emollient (moisturiser) |
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil | A non clogging moisturizing oil. |
Sorbitan Olivate (Emulsifier) | Olive-Based Emulsifier |
Glycerin (Sugar Alcohol) | Glycerin is a humecant (attracts water) that is used in many moisturisers. We generally do not use Glycerin, but it in this formula because Zinc can also absorb water and dry the cream out withou glycerin. |
Lecithin (Soy) | |
Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate (Emulsifier) | We needed a number of different emulsifiers to make sure the minerals disperses properly in the cream. If the Zinc clumps, then the SPF would not be as high and consistent. Although the ingredients have complicated names, they are all “natural”. That is that they are all plant derived, not petrroleum based. |
Iron Oxide | What gives Australia its red, fertile soils and what gives our tinted SPF 40 its skin colour. |
Galactoarabinan (Emulsifier) | Moisturising polysaccharide from Larch trees. Also supports SPF through ensuring Zinc is dispersed evenly. |
Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax | |
Polyhydroxystearic Acid (Emulsifier) | We needed a number of different emulsifiers to make sure the Zinc disperses properly in the cream. If the Zinc clumps, then the SPF would not be as high and consistent. Although the ingredients have complicated names, they are all “natural”. That is that they are all plant derived. |
Cetyl Phosphate (Emulsifier) | We needed a number of different emulsifiers to make sure the Zinc disperses properly in the cream. If the Zinc clumps, then the SPF would not be as high and consistent. Although the ingredients have complicated names, they are all “natural”. That is that they are all plant derived. |
Sodium Chloride (salt) | Helps keep the cream stable. |
Oleic Acid | Balances pH |
1,2-Hexanediol (Moisturiser) | Zinc is very complicated to formulate as Zinc naturally "clumps", so ingredients have to be used to make sure this doesnt happen and the spread is evern. So although we typically like to avoid using anything that we struggle to say, this moisturiser and binder was by far the best way to keep the cream moist. |
Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioner) | This ingredients also helps dissolve the Zinc allowing it to form a good film to protect the skin. |
Tropolone (Skin Soother) | A lovely ingredient that helps sooth the skin. |
